I went for a 4 days trip to reward myself for 5 weeks of non-stop work.
Just got back 2 days ago and I’m missing Bangkok already. Hurhur.

Alright, I’ve to admit – my reservations about Bangkok all melted, the moment I stepped foot into their airport. It was just like our T2, very new and modernized.

I stayed at Baiyoke Boutique (affiliated to Baiyoke Sky) – a small hotel with nice interior.
Breakfast is bad though, choices are extremely limited.

Placed down the luggages in the hotel, then went out to roam the city.
It was about 4pm there so the traffic wasn’t at its worst yet.

That’s Baiyoke Sky, Bangkok’s tallest building. I stayed at their boutique hotel.

Took a boat ride on the second day – to see the Kampung on stilts kind of life.

Then of course, it was pure shopping, shopping and more shopping. The array of shops there simply beats Singapore hands down. Whatever we have here, they have them too. But whatever they have there, we don’t.

This place is like Tokyo’s Shibuya district. Very quaint shops selling one-off kind of pieces.
Prices are not cheap though, very much like home.

There were two stores that I really like.. and if I have money, I would franchise them both to Singapore – Appliqué and Chill Chill. Applique is this handmade iron-on bags, pouches etc kind of store and Chill Chill is a small shop selling handmade cloth bangles, clips, hairbands etc. Guess what? I asked for contacts because they do ship internationally =)

This is Appliqué – spent hours here and made quite a few iron-on stuff.

This is Chill Chill – a tiny store tucked in a corner in platinum mall. It was a wonderful find. I bought bangles, hair bands and many hair accessories!

I love the 4th floor of Siam Paragon too. All the art & crafts supplies!

Then of course, there were loads of nice food and chi-chi cafes to hang out at.

Having my lunch at Central World – one of the Cafes.

Late night coffee- Cafe DoiTung at Suan Lom.

Cheap SGD24 dinner at this Pseudo Thai- Italian restaurant at Suan Lom.

Not forgetting Starbucks.

This place is like quiet Robertson quay – a few restaurants and Istudio (selling Apple pdts)
I had Japanese food.

Saw this cafe while at the train station, and decided to grab coffee there after dinner.

Nice place tucked in some ulu corner but packed with people.

Yes.. it’s called Wawee Coffee. I like the place.

My friend recommended me to try the chicken rice at Hway Kwong.
But honestly, the place is so big! And I seriously do not know if this was the stall she had in mind.

Here’s many of the roadside food which looked damn good, but I didn’t dare try much.

Sausages were kind of sour. Not sure if that’s the taste or just sausages gone bad.

One way to beat the traffic jams really is to take the train.
Economic and fast.

Somehow or rather, there’s always people smiling into my pictures.
Land of smiles right?

I sat the Tuk Tuk only once. Decided that it was a rip-off.
Going by taxi meter is so much cheaper and in comfort.
Less hazardous to health too.

Last night there, I went up to the 83rd floor of Baiyoke Sky.
The band there was damn bad. They kept churning out country and blues.
Thankfully, the breathless view saved the day.
I could stare at the view for hours and days.

Would I go Bangkok again?
Definitely.
