March 2008

The wedding was a really lovely affair. Busy and tired as I was, I was glad to be a huge part of the wedding. The original cousins were all helpers on that day, shuffling from house to house and hotel room to hotel room. There was the one prominent blunder I made that day though, which according to D., it might well be the family joke during every Chinese New Year.

The wedding’s guest of honor was Ms Grace Fu (Senior minister of state !) and I happened to be helping out with the name list, seating arrangement and complimentary parking. So, when she came to sign the wedding book, I (foolishly) asked, “May I have your name?” (I seriously had no idea what she looked like- even though I knew that Adrian had invited her) and she candidly replied “GRACE FU”. At that moment, I desperately wished for a hole to open up and swallow me whole.

Anyway, like I said, the wedding was a really lovely affair.. Adrian and Carol had quite a few of their PAP friends there, and it was hilarious when the emcee kept digging fun at them.. calling them “the party people” (because they are the PAP) & “DANG the REN” (Dang basically means ‘party’ in chinese).

Here’s some photos which were taken using my crappy Olympus. I will upload the photographer’s photos next time once Adrian received them.

I love this dress from Warehouse to bits; and initially wanted to get it for the dinner, but was eventually discouraged by the cousin brother who commented,
“Don’t you have something like this already? Why are your dresses all the same?”

So.. We walked out of Warehouse SANS the dress.
In the end, I bought this black dress for the dinner.

But I’ve been thinking and dreaming about this denim dress (at a cost of $129) ever since, and so maybe I shall go get it for the tea-party?

It will function really well as my date-dress too!

I was woken up by breakfast calls from the nurse early Sunday morning at about 8am. I know it’s not considered early judging by some of your standards, but it definitely is early for me (having only had broken sleep the night before).

Anyway, Grandma will be discharged tomorrow.. thank you dear friends for all your concern. To show my gratitude, I’ve decided to treat you to the view of the 13th floor and a peek into my 3 meals- $60 kind of food.

I’m dead tired and falling sick from broken sleep the whole of last night.
Rushed down to Vivo today to collect this dress (at $193) from warehouse.
One down from the to-do-list. I really wished that this dreadful period pass quicker.

I’ve been meaning to update but too much shit was is still happening to me these days.

  • My computer seems to have a connection problem with my wireless network at home. I can’t use my computer at all. Well at least not the internet. And I’m really really a slave to technology. I’ve many photos of ‘cake-baking’ to upload here, but I can’t because the wireless at home is like crap.
  • Dress-hunting for the imminent wedding is driving me up the wall toooo. As if work from school is not even to kill me, now I’ve the near-impossible task to accomplish. I’ve got Warehouse to reserve this black-silk dress for me; I’m hoping to find time to go down for a fitting tomorrow. Needless to say, dress-hunting is also depleting my bank account too.

I’m typing this entry, sitting on a sofa.. looking out at a nice view on the 13th floor. I can even look forward to a nice breakfast at Novena Square a stone throw away tomorrow. In fact, just a 5 minutes walk. I will be here for the next few nights.. it’s just like a nice resort in CLASS A ward at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Grandma has been admitted to hospital and I’m praying hard she gets well soon.

Oh Well.. at least this place has wireless, attached bathroom, nice sofa. It’s almost like a hotel.. all I need to do is imagine that I’m on some holiday with Grandma.

Happy thoughts!

Thank God for Starbucks conveniently located just at the 1st level. *edited*
